1. Periyar University - Centre for Geoinformatics & Planetary Studies, Department of Geology

A. Research Associate (RA)

No. of Post: One
Eligibility: Ph.D. in Geology with specialization of Planetary / Hyperspectral Remote sensing.

B. Post: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

No. of Post: Two
Eligibility : M.Sc. in Geology/Applied Geology with specialization of Remote Sensing. M.Tech in Remote Sensing is desirable additional qualification.
Applications are invited for the following project positions in an ISRO sponsored fast track project. The tenure of the project positions are initially for the period of THREE months & extendable for further three months, subject to extension of the project. The project person willing to work in the stipulated time frame to complete the task.

Salary / Fellowship: Fixed as per ISRO guidelines. A walk-in-interview is proposed to be held at this Institute on 05.08.2011 (Friday) at 10 A.M. to fill-up the following temporary posts,

A.  Research Associate – 1
Decision Support System for Enhancing productivity in Irrigated Saline Environment using Remote Sensing, Modelling and GIS. Rs. 24,000/- + HRA for master’s degree holders with two years experience, Rs. 24,000/- + HRA for Ph.D. degree holders, Rs. 23,000/- + HRA for fresh master’s degree holders Eligibility: M. Tech/M.E./M. Sc. in Remote Sensing & GIS/Geoinformatics/ Geomatics/GeoInformation Science & Technology/Spatial Information Technology/Geo-Engineering with minimum 60% marks from a recognized university and at least 2 years experience.OR Ph.D. or Master’s with minimum 60% marks and 2 years experience in Science/Engineering/Geography with specialization in Remote Sensing & GIS applications to Natural Resource  Management/Canal management



B. Sr. Research Fellow – 1
Project :Control of waterlogging and salinity through agro-forestry interventions.
Remuneration: Rs. 16,000/- + HRA for 1st & 2nd year & Rs. 18,000/- + HRA for 3rd year. Eligibility: M.Sc. / M. Tech in Soil Science/ Environmental Sciences/Agril. Engineering (Soil & Water Engg./Irrigation & Drainage Engg.)/Botany/Agril. Sciences.


C. Junior Research Fellows – 3
Project : Carbon sequestration potential in plantation and agricultural land uses for mitigating climate change and increasing crop productivity on Gangetic Basin.
Remuneration: Rs. 16,000/- + HRA for 1st & 2nd year & Rs. 18,000/- + HRA for 3rd year. Eligibility: M.Sc. with minimum 60% marks in Botany, Environmental Science, Agroforestry, Forestry, Agronomy, Soil Science & Chemistry.

D. Post: Field cum lab assistant – 1
Remuneration: Rs. 6,000/- p.m. (consolidated)
Eligibility : 10+2 pass with minimum 50% marks and good working knowledge of computer.
