Applications in the prescribed proforma are invited from the persons of Indian Nationality for the following posts :

1. Scientist 'D' (1 Post, Category : Unreserved, Scale of Pay : PB-3 Rs. 15600-39100 + GP Rs.7600)


Minimum Qualification and Experience : M Sc in Geology or Geophysics or Physics with not less than 65% marks or recognized equivalent qualification with not less than 65% marks. 10 years research experience in Geochronology. OR
Ph D in relevant discipline with specialization in Geochronology. 7 years Post-Doctoral research experience in Geochronology. Adequate evidence of original work and leadership. Desirable Qualifications and Experience : The candidates who have M Sc Degree in Geology or Geophysics should have Physics as one of the main subjects at B Sc level. Publications of high standard in National/International journals and experience in 14C Dating .

2. Scientist 'C' (1 Post, Category : Unreserved, Scale of Pay : PB-3 Rs. 15600-39100 + GP Rs.6600)
Minimum Qualification and Experience : M Sc in Geology or Geophysics or Physics with not less than 65% marks or recognized equivalent qualification with not less than 65% marks. 7 years research experience in Geochronology. OR Ph D in relevant discipline with specialization in Geochronology. 4 years Post-Doctoral research experience in Geochronology. Desirable Qualifications and Experience : The candidates who have M Sc Degree in Geology or Geophysics should have Physics as one of the main subjects at B Sc level. Publications of high standard in National/International journals and experience in 14C Dating

3. Scientist 'B' (1 Post, Category : SC , Scale of Pay : PB-3 Rs.15600-39100 + GP Rs.5400)

Minimum Qualification and Experience : M Sc in Geology or Geophysics or Physics with not less than 65% marks or recognized equivalent qualification with not less than 65% marks. 3 years research experience in Geochronology. OR
Ph D in relevant discipline with specialization in Geochronology.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience : The candidates who have M Sc Degree in Geology or Geophysics should have Physics as one of the main subjects at B Sc level. Publications of high standard in National/International journals and experience in 14C.

4. Scientist 'B' (1 Post for PH (Orthopedic disability),, Scale of Pay : PB-3 Rs.15600-39100 + GP Rs.5400)

Minimum Qualification and Experience : M Sc in Botany or Geology with not less than 65% marks or recognised equivalent qualification with not less than 65% marks. 3 years research experience in Palaeobotany including Palynology (Precambrian Palaeobiology/Gondwana Megafossils and Palynology/Cenozoic Megafossils and Palynology/ Quaternary Palynology/Marine Micropalaeobotany/ Organic Petrology/ Hydrocarbon Exploration). OR Ph D in relevant discipline with specialization in Palaeobotany.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience : The candidates who have M Sc Degree in Botany should have Geology as one of the main subjects at B Sc level. The candidates who have M Sc Degree in Geology should have Botany as one of main subjects at B Sc level. Applicants should have publications of high standard in National/International journals

5. Scientist 'B' - 7 Posts ( 2 for OBC, 5 for UR and Scale of Pay : PB-3 Rs.15600-39100 + GP Rs. 5400)

Minimum Qualification and Experience : M Sc in Botany or Geology with not less than 65% marks or recognised equivalent qualification with not less than 65% marks. 3 years research experience in Palaeobotany including Palynology. (Precambrian Palaeobiology/Gondwana Megafossils and Palynology/Cenozoic Megafossils and Palynology/ Quaternary Palynology/ Marine Micropalaeobotany /Organic Petrology/ Hydrocarbon Exploration). OR Ph D in relevant discipline with specialization in Palaeobotany.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience for Scientist ‘B’ : The candidates who have M Sc Degree in Botany should have Geology as one of the main subjects at B Sc level. The candidates who have M Sc Degree in Geology should have Botany as one of main subjects at B Sc level. Applicants should have publications of high standard in National/International journals

Age Limit : 45 years for Scientist ‘D’, 40 years for Scientist ‘C’ and 35 years for Scientists ‘B’ ; Provided that the crucial date for determining the age limit shall be the closing date of the receipt of applications from the candidates i.e. September 02, 2011; provided further that the age limit in respect of candidates belonging to SC/ST categories is relaxable by five years and three years for candidates belonging to OBC Category ; and age relaxation for PH candidates will be as per Government of India rules ; provided further that in case of applicants already in service in any of the funded Institutions under the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India the relaxation of age limit up to a maximum of five years shall be admissible.

GENERAL :
1.In addition to the prescribed minimum qualifications, the candidate should have consistently good academic record i.e. not less than 55% marks in B Sc examination. In case, the candidate is possessing Ph.D. Degree in relevant discipline, a minimum of 55% is must at M.Sc. or equivalent examination.
2.Mere fulfilling of the minimum advertised qualification and experience requirements DO NOT automatically entitle an applicant to be called for test and/or interview.
3. All the applications received within the due date in response to this advertisement shall be considered for short-listing by a Screening Committee and ONLY the candidates recommended by the Screening Committee will be called for test and/or interview. The decision of the Institute on short-listing will be final and the Institute will not entertain any correspondence in this respect.
4. The number of post (s) may vary. The Institute reserves the right not to fill up any of the posts, if it so decides.
5.Persons working in Central/State Government/Public Sector Undertaking/ Autonomous Bodies should submit their applications through proper channel within due date.
6.Separate applications along with application fee should be submitted for each post applied for.
7.Qualifications, experience and other requirements for any post may be relaxed at the discretion of the Institute in respect of candidates otherwise well qualified.
8.No application fee for SC/ST/PH candidates. Other candidates are required to pay Non-refundable application fee of Rs. 100/- in favour of Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeobotany, Lucknow through DEMAND DRAFT ONLY drawn on any Nationalised Bank at Lucknow. NO OTHER mode of payment of application fee is acceptable.
9.The appointing authority will satisfy itself that the character and antecedents of the persons proposed to be appointed are such as not to render them unsuitable for appointment.
10.If at any time before or after the selection of a candidate, it is found that any information is suppressed or false, his selection will be liable to be rejected or cancelled.
11.The selected candidates for various posts will be liable for transfer among various Projects/Sections/Units of the Institute at the discretion of the Director.
12.Usual allowances as per rules of the Institute which are on the Government of India pattern are admissible for all posts.
